Employee Benefits Summary
Valley Health System provides a Savings & Thrift Plan that allows benefited employees to defer a portion (up to 15%) of their after-tax income. Valley Health System matches 75% of the employee’s savings (up to 5%). An employee may begin participation after one year of benefited service and having attained age 22.
In addition to the Savings & Thrift Plan, Valley Health System offers a Section 457 Deferred Compensation Retirement Plan that allows employees to defer a portion of their income on a pre-tax basis. This benefit is available to all employees (benefited and non-benefited). The benefits are taxable on distribution. Stringent IRS withdrawal rules apply.
Valley Health System also has established a Defined Contribution Retirement Plan, which works like a profit sharing plan. Under the new plan, Valley Health System will commit five hundred thousand ($500,000.00) dollars to be contributed to the Defined Contribution Plan for fiscal year 2000. An employee is eligible to participate after completing one year of benefited service and having attained age 21. Eligible employees are required to work a minimum of twenty hours per week in each plan year.
Valley Health System provides a Flexible Benefit Plan for all benefited employees who have completed three months of employment. This plan allows employees to design their benefit plan to meet their personal needs. Selections include health, dental, life, AD&D, medical and dependent care spending accounts.
Valley Health System provides benefited employees from two to five weeks of vacation time per year with accruals based on hours worked, years of service, and employment status.
Valley Health System recognizes eight paid holidays per year for benefited employees. Pay for these holidays is prorated based upon actual hours worked. In addition, employees are paid at the overtime rate for hours worked on these holidays.
Valley Health System provides up to 40 hours of vested PTO per year for short-term illness or personal time. Time is accrued based upon actual hours worked.
Twenty-four (24) hours of sick leave benefits are accrued into an Extended Sick Leave bank for full-time employees. This benefit is available in the event of a serious illness and is coordinated with state disability. Hours are prorated for part-time employees.
Up to 5 paid days are available per year depending
on employee status. An employee must have worked for Valley Health System for
one year to qualify for this benefit.
